I take it the pvc piping and what looks like green plastic sheeting rigged above
each equipment rack is to prevent possible water damage from above due to a
faulty a/c drain line or water-based sprinkler system?

Too bad a certain large city in Southeastern Texas known for being the home of
many an oil company, Compaq and Deny B. (or more accurately their contractor)
didn't have such a setup when an a/c drain line clogged over a weekend and took
out a 7933 disc drive. And if that wasn't bad enough, the way they had been
backing up the databases (specific files on each drive, 1 or 2 tapes per drive
instead of the standard store of the entire database) and a bad tape in the
series made it impossible to restore the databases. They lost the contract.
