I did not see your original posting (Printer Port I?), so I'm making the following assumption about your question:

you are trying to print from a host to a printer which is connected to an HP terminal or a PC running HP terminal emulation software.

By default, the printer is sent an image of whatever appears on the screen. The blank lines in your example are probably caused by the terminal's end-of-line wrap feature, which can be turned on or off. My guess is that the configuration for your minisoft program has it turned off, so the blank lines don't appear. However, turning it off is not the best solution, since the user may prefer the end-of-line wrap.

Instead, use Record Mode when printing to the printer port. This causes the data to be passed through to the printer without formatting it for the terminal screen. Record Mode can be turned on using the "device modes" function keys, or via escape sequence. Note that in Record Mode your keyboard is locked while the file is printing and the data is not displayed on the screen.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Printer Port II

Some times ago i asked the list about a problem with printing throught a

printer port.
Now i have another little question :

I managed to print throught the printer port and now it work well. But
there is only a little quirk : for every line i print the terminal
prints another blank line.
That is if i print

a
b
c

on the printer i'll see

a

b

c

The funny is that if i print from minisoft (4.2 version ) the output is
right that is the terminal doesn't send a null line. I searched an
answer in the terminal manual but i didn't found anything. The problem
is exactly the difference between the two environment.....

Thanks in advance,

Paolo Tealdi
