Hi Folks,
I don't get to ask to many questions lately but here is an interesting one that I know with all the talent on this list someone might have an answer.

We have a teaching lab set up with one HP Netserver E800, 800 mhz and 256 M of memory running Red Hat Linux 7.1. Connected to this server is 25 HP Vectras, Win 98, and using SCO Xwindows to connect to Linux Gnome.

The objective of this lab is to teach our students about Linux, so no applications except what comes standard with Linux are being run.

The problem we are having is I get about 10 users on to the server and it starts to bog down, by the time we get to about the 15th user the cannot get connected.

The questions I have are:

1) Is this server to small to do this with
2) Is there some performance tuning issue that I may have overlooked?
3) One thing I have noticed is if a user just closes the SCO Xwindows program without logging off all their processes still keep running on the server. Is there a way to stop this?

I am only new to the Linux world have been through the manual a few times but haven't found any answers.

As always I would greatly appreciate any ideas and thanks in advance.

Thanks
Gary Nolan

PS I still miss my MPE!!!
