I'd like to comment that this problem was on the server side and was
unfortunately introduced in Allbase on the server side.

This bug was reported as early as August of 1994 in at least 2 SR's,
5003216218 and 5003222281. Let me give you some details:

I duplicated this problem back in August, 1994, using MPEiX X.50.15/20/30,
Allbase G0.24, ODBC G0.04.

*** PROBLEM TEXT ***
A user password exists on your MPE/iX account.

If you specify a valid user password in the LastUser string in your
ODBC.INI file, the following incorrect error message is returned from
the SQLDriverConnect ODBC call:

Logon error: Missing user password. (DBERR 35407)

If you specify an invalid user password in the LastUser string in your
ODBC.INI file, the following correct error message is returned from
the SQLDriverConnect ODBC call:

Logon error: Incorrect user password. (DBERR 35404)

If you do not specify a user password in the LastUser string in your
ODBC.INI file, SQLDriverConnect will successfully connect to the
database when the following error message should be returned instead:

Logon error: Missing user password. (DBERR 35407)

*** TEMPORARY SOLUTION TEXT ***
There are two workarounds:

1) Leave the user password intact on the host and omit the user
password from your LastUser string in your ODBC.INI file.

2) Use the F0 version of the HP ODBC Driver.

The lab chose to fix this problem on the server side in the G1.xx release
of Allbase which is currently in beta test. G1 will be released in tandem
with the Image/SQL beta in mid-June.
