I'm not sure what contest this is, but if it's an "old manual" contest, I
still have most of my original HP3000 manual set, purchased in December
of 1977 and picked up from 5303 Stevens Creek on January 12, 1978. I have
all the binders, but a few of the manuals have been replaced with newer
versions. The System Reference Manual, COBOL manual, SORT/MERGE manual
and most others are original. Most of these are dated 1976, with a few
1977. (Some of the edition dates are 1975, but with later updates
incorporated.) The binders have the original hand-typed-at-the-factory
spine fillers.
I would have entered my MTS (Multipoint Terminal System) manual into the
"most useless manual still on hand" contest, but it suddenly became
useful last year when I was trying to help out a client who had a
70's-vintage computer system that they needed to have accessed across the
Internet.
