Hi,
I ported a version of whois, written by Marco d'Itri, to MPE/iX.
It currently runs only under the shell.
Example:
/SIELER/HFS: whois hp.com
Registrant:
Hewlett-Packard Company (HP-DOM)
3000 Hanover Street
Palo Alto, CA 94304
US
...
Some users have noticed that for the last two days, our ".txt" files on
our software page were missing. That's due to an apparent bug in
the /bin/tobyte program. Sometimes, tobyte would go wild and fill up
disk instead of terminating properly. I finally seem to have a file that
causes this behavior repeatably, and I've submitted a bug report on it.
(Our .txt files are created by a script that does "tobyte -at" on the
flat ASCII doc files to create the .txt files.)
In the meantime, I wrote a replacement tobyte, sstobyte, which is also
available on our software page. It *seems* to work in a plug-compatible
manner. The security on the output file is different...I copy the
security of the input file rather than assuming 660.
Both files are at: www.allegro.com/software
