what model tape drive do you really have? is it a dds-3? there are
known issues with trying to do an update with 'too new' of a tape
drive. (i would have thought this would have been fixed by now
(ahem!)). you may need to yank the dds-3 and replace it with an older
tape drive -- just long enough to do the update. once you're past
that hurdle, put your dds-3 back in and finish watching your tapes
spin. (of course, you can't really do that anymore :-) - d
