I think the answer to your problem is to just remove the GMULTI part
of your :FILE equations.  GMULTI specifies the sharing of the file's
record pointers.  I can't imagine why you'd want to do that.  It looks
like you want each access of this file to be able to easily read the
one-and-only record in that file.
 
MR provides the ability to read more than one logical record at a
time; in any case, the reads start at the current pointer.
