Hello Friends,

HP was good enough to give me about two hours' head start on learning
about these patches, so what follows is based on an interview today
at 10 AM Central.

1. Craig Fairchild said these patches are stageable. But they do
require a reboot, at the least.

2. He also said that this sort of BINARY PATCH is something HP will
continue to develop through the end of 2010. This, in reply to my
specific question, "This is the kind of thing HP will not develop
after 2008, correct?"

Earlier, HP said that it would end its patch development altogether
after December of 2008. The binaries are the exception, according to
HP.

I have a more complete article on the NewsWire's blog, posted just as
HP made the news public.

Look for the follow up piece tomorrow, and the podcast with
commentary on Friday!
