Steven, it seems that the replies are a little TOO relevant.
 
Change is never free. Doing nothing costs more, sometimes. Doing the
latest thing has its disadvantages, as Stan Sieler points out.
 
People jump through hoops for the 3000 to preserve their investments in
expertise and maintain extraordinary reliability for IS operations. When
UNIX solutions match powerfail recovery and simplify upgrades to the point
of MPE/iX, people may stop jumping through those hoops. But don9t bet on
it. By then, operating system debates like this will be a fond memory of
time better spent on creating things, instead of dismantling what9s not
trendy.
