Once upon a time I wrote some library routines to do fast MR NOBUF serial reads
on Image datasets in order to speed up some ponderous batch reports.

It's about 500+ lines of Pascal, and like I said before, is READ-ONLY.  If
anybody would like a copy, let me know.

As other people have already mentioned, MR NOBUF updating would be far too
dangerous and the standard Image intrinsics should be used instead.
