It's tough to respond to such a "pronouncement from on high", given that
it neither provides supporting evidence nor admits to the need of any.
Sounds uncomfortably close to "My mind is made up-don't confuse me with
the facts."

It's especially unfortunate in this case, where there is at least some
evidence that the "first day of the week" is, in fact, variable,
depending on both location and culture.
