There are just a few nit's I have to pick.

Suspending Habeas Corpus may not have been a
good thing to do, but it is a Constitutional
thing to do in Wartime.  I will have to say
I am not entirely comfortable with it being
applied now, since I think 'Wartime' is a bit
of a stretch for what we are in now.

Preserving the Union was Lincoln's objective,
freeing the slaves was more of an afterthought.
Slavery was not near the top of the list of
issues in the South, many southerners disapproved
of slavery and would not have been very unhappy
to see it end.

Regarding the presidential race......  General
Clark is the one who scares me, but I guess
he is lagging far behind.

I agree that 'Martial Law' under Bush is more
tolerable than would be under the others.  I
think Bush is a tough customer, but not very
smart.
