Ironically, after posting the announcement for the job at Pierce County,
Hewlett Packard, Services Division, called and told me that they had four
people who qualified for the job in Washington State and that they were
available immediately--the fee was 25% of their annual salary.
It seems clear that these are folks who would normally be contracted out,
but HP was offering them as permanent employees--hence the relevance to
this topic.
Also ironically, after I issued the "clarification" of the job--
theoretically narrowing the field by virtue of the constraints within which
the new HP MPE System Manager would be operating--someone well qualified
expressed an interest in the position, and it is likely that we will hire
him.
Perhaps the posting at http://www.satirewire.com/news/0105/loyal.shtml
may be more relevant than we realize.
