But think about the functionality -- the HP3000 provides a lot of
features designed to ensure your data integrity, like powerfail
recovery, transaction management, etc.  Much of the HP3000's overall
reliability comes from MPE's ability to manage its disks.  Are you
willing to sacrifice some of these features in order to use "off the
shelf" disks?
