The bell is ascii character 7 -- pretty standard

blinks, underlines, half-brights, & inversions are all combinations based on
the following basic escape sequence [from the Reflection manual, "summary of
HP escape sequences" chapter/help topic]

Esc&d<x>        Select display enhancement
Esc&ds<x>       Display enhancement with security

replace <x> with a letter from "@" through "O" where each of the lower 4
bits represents a different "enhancement"

hex   ascii   enhancement
====  =====   ==================
 40 @ no enhancements (turns off everything)
 41     A     blink
 42     B     inverse
 44     D     underline
 48     H     half-bright

Combine the bits to make all 16 possibilities, i.e., "C" is inverse
blinking, "G" is underlined inverse blinking, "L" is half-bright underined,
and "O" is everything
