I'm on 5.5pp4 and using Apache to successfully call a Perl CGI which is
successfully calling a Pascal NMPRG (and passing INFO & PARM) via callci:

$output = `callci $db_prog \\"$essn1$essn2$essn3,$elast,$efirst,$security,$sssn1$sssn2$sssn3,$slast,$sfirst\\",5`;

Note: the above statement is Perl, not sh.
