Actually, I think both Dale Strommer and Charles Finley Jr. are correct.
The HP2893A we used did not have an HPIB interface on it.  I seem to
remember it having an interface like that on the old HP2617 printer,
which if the card reader was built by Data Products makes sense.

It was supported on pre-HP-IB systems by the old
UI (universal interface) board, if my memory
serves me correctly.
