I speak from having had experience with INLEX/3000 and the folks in the
Monterey, CA office, at my last place of employment. The product,
running on the HP3000, was wonderful and the staff of INLEX both before
and after they became a part of Data Research Associates (the one before
SIRSI came into the picture) were extremely professional. They always
got to the root of any problem we encountered. It is indeed sad to see
this office close and those folks released.

Eric Sand here with the following news: The SIRSI Monterey office is
being closed effective today with all being released save myself and a
support person. I will be working from my home office in Pacific Grove

the time being. The group here was quite incredible as those of the
HP3000-L
are and we have received many emails and letters thanking us for our

over the years. I will still add my questions/comments to the listserv,
especially since I have a 918 at home and many personal projects left
uncompleted.
We have always prided ourselves on sevice to the customer, the
customer
was always right and our attitude was to always work with the customer.
Their response has consistently born this out. HP corporate can draw
their
own conclusions from the previous two sentences.
I talked with the author of the letter below this morning and she
said
we, as keepers of the Inlex Library product, had set the bar with
MPE/iX,
the HP3000 and our product and all future technology she encounters will
be
measured by that...quite a compliment. The letter was addressed to our

It is with regret that I write to inform SIRSI that as of October 1,
2002
the Watertown Library Association will no longer be a customer.
The last 10 years have been a joy running the Inlex/3000 ILS. This
product
and its hardware platform continue to perform flawlessly. Working in an
area where power outages are common, the peace of mind provided by the
dependability of the Inlex/3000 has been priceless.
No small portion of WLA's devotion to this indestructible workhorse has
been and continues to be the superior support, dedication and knowledge
of
the Monterey/Ohio team. It was the people behind the product that was
the
deciding factor when WLA decided to migrate in 1992. This includes the
members of the Inlex Users Group upon whose expertise, support and good
humor WLA has come to rely. We shall miss all of them. Thank you.
Time and library automation vendors march on. Because of changing
budgetary
and personnel concerns, the Watertown Library Association will be
migrating
to an ASP and bringing the newly renovated Oakville Branch Library into
this web environment.
