Donna,

I think the file you're looking for is
   ".../netscape/users/<user name>/pref.js"
Open this file with a text editor and look for keys something
like these:

user_pref("mailnews.message_window_rect", "81,81,840,530");
user_pref("mailnews.thread_window_rect", "30,10,973,733");
user_pref("mailnews.use_3pane", true);

I haven't seen anything about minimized or normal windows, but these keys
control the default size and position of the windows.  I think the numbers
pixel numbers for the right, top, width, and height of the window.  You
might find zeros or numbers too big for your current screen resolution.
