I was interested to learn that 1984 was little more than a metaphor for
Orwell's own time. He wrote his book in 1948, and simply switched the two
numbers.

I have this friend, let's call him Gerg Stigres, who thinks "Brave New
World" was much closer to the truth than Orwell ever got. Fortunately, we
have the fine products of Anheiser-Bush, Budweiser, and Coors to take our
minds off of, well... I can't think of anything right now, except I wonder
if there is a brewery for every letter of the alphabet? And are there more
letters in the alphabet than there will be OT: posts attempting to answer
that?
