OK,

having solved my little security problem with syslog, I've run into a
biggie with sendmail.

1. I have not touched sendmail.cf at all - I just copied it to
/etc/sendmail.cf
For some unknown reason, I can't do a chown on this file so a just did
a chmod a=rwx
    for the time being.

2. Looking at /tmp/mail.log, it seems to be failing on gethostbyaddr on the
IP address of
the host machine for sendmail, then same thing for another IP address
(don't know what
this one is). Incidentally, I can ping both these addresses OK from the
host HP3K.

3. We have IP Addresses for two DNS Servers enabled in RESLVCNF and are
connected
to the internet through a firewall.

Any ideas?
