<<Hi,
    I am figuring out how to add some drives to my 957 (SX type)...

    I am told by an HP Engineer that the UPS in my 957 will not be enough
for
the new 4 GB drives (A3352A) should the AC fail...

    What do you Experts think and know about this??? What do you
recommend??

     Horror stories are welcome :)>>

Sounds pretty bogus to me.

The A3352A is an ST15150-or-equivalent 3.5" half-height drive. The
ST15150 mechanism is rated at 12.5W idle. The 957SX came with C3010M1
drives (we had 3 in our box). These drives are full-height 5.25" drives;
HP doesn't show the power requirements for this drive, but comparable
Seagate drives like the ST42000 and ST42100 drew 20-30W idling. Either my
math is confused, or a 957SX that would hold three C3010 drives, for a
total disk capacity of slightly under 6GB, would hold 5 of the A3352A
drives (assuming that you can get them mounted in the box), giving over
20GB of storage, while putting less load on the power supply.
