Point well taken, but I offer one defense of HP and good business
practices.  We all like low prices, but one of the "costs" of low prices is
vendors going bankrupt.  How does a company stay in business selling $6
NICs and free software?  The answer is, they don't.  And sometimes, your
vendor going out of business is a problem for you the customer, not to
mention the vendor's employees (and people do work at these companies,
unaware that their company's business practices are dooming them all).  So
my point is, accept volatile employment cycles and stock markets along with
cheap prices, because they are somewhat related.

This has probably now become off-topic, so I'll go up and add the OT.
