Well, TCP/IP and Internet stuff in general in not 'impossible' per se
on the HP 3000, just maybe the toughest thing you may ever try to do.
Last year I tried to get an Internet connection going on a MPE V system.
YOu may want to look around at the NETCONTROL command, and it's relating
commands. I know nothing about HP UX or the HP 9000, but it may be possible
to set up a DSLINE connection from your 3000 to the Internetworkable 9000,
or, you can, as I said before, play with NETCONTROL, which has TCP/IP
support. But, even though you may be able to send/recieve TCP/IP
packets, it's doubtless that you have the daemons for all of the Internet
apps, such as telnet, snmp, etc.

PS, you should be able to, if you haven't already, connect your 2 3000's
together via DSLINE. I haven't worked with it before, but it should be
possible. I've been out of the 3000 'area' for about 6 months now, so
the memory is fuzzy in certain areas...
