Please keep in mind that moving the PC's from serial to network
connections does not, in itself, require you to put Netware/iX on your
HP3000. You should only need Netware/iX if you want to use your
HP3000 as a file and/or printer server for the PC applications.
The session connections to the HP3000 via the LAN will typically be
made using either HP-VT or Telnet, neither of which will require you
to have Netware/iX.
If I read your message correctly, it sounded as if you were mostly
concerned with switching from sessions via serial connections to
sessions via LAN connections.
