I was stationed with the Air Force in Monterey and did 17 mile drive a
     number of times on bike. Well worth it.

A friend of mine suggested I take a trip down to Monterey and check out the
aquarium and something called "17 Mile Drive"; so those were my tentative
plans.
 
What does "something ad hoc on site" mean?  A volleyball game in the HP
parking lot?
