I worked at Circuit City Corporate for seven+ years. When I arrived, my
first boss showed me a memo, which itself was six years old. It was a
reply to his request for budget for some MPE utility program. The reply
said, in part "Is this a wise investment since we will discontinue using
MPE systems next year?"
Fast-foward to 1997 (15 years later), and guess what . . . MPE systems are
still there. 99x class (except for development) and still supportting their
national parts invetory and service claim processing (or at least that was
the case when I stopped in for a visit last June).
So fear not Sir Mike the Management Slayer. The MPE systems may be there
longer than you.
