With apologies in advance for the off-topic post....

A week ago, HP announced an *electronic* stethoscope, supposedly able to
amplify sounds up to 14 times that of a "conventional" stethoscope.

Some may not need this.  I was a volunteer EMT a few years ago working at a
rock concert, and the paramedic I was with was able to hear a patient's
heart sounds -- during the concert!  It blew my mind, as I could hardly
hear through a stethoscope under ideal conditions.  He may not need the
HP device, but it sure would have helped me.
