This request is primarily for the people on the list who are either in the UK
or Europe. The questions concerns currency notation. The first question is in
regards to negative currency amounts. In the US, we write:

     -$45.67

with the negative sign in front of the dollar sign. In England, I presume you
do the same:

     -L45.67

[where I'm using the "L" to substitute for the pound sign (whenever I use
upper register characters in a message sent on HP3000-L, the whole thing gets
converted over into quotable text, which many people on the list can't read,
including myself, at least not easily).]

But what about the Euro, especially given that it has two forms, "EUR" and
the Euro symbol? In the first, I would imagine that negative amounts are written:

     EUR -45,67

with the "EUR" written first, followed by a space, and then the minus sign
concatenated onto the value.

But my second question is: where does the Euro symbol go, in the front or the
back? I've seen it both ways:

     E45,67 and 45,67E

(substituting an "E" for the Euro symbol). And how are negative numbers
written? I can presume:

     -E45,67 and -45,67E

but is this correct?

Similarly, if a different notation were used for negative amounts, such as
parentheses, how are they used with the currency notation?

     US: ($45.67)
     UK: (L45.67) ?
    EUR: (EUR 45,67) , (E45,67) or (45,67E) ?

In the same vein, how is the CR/DB notation used?

     US: $45.67CR
     UK: L45.67CR ?
    EUR: EUR 45,67CR , E45,67CR or 45,67E CR ?

Thanks much,

Wirt Atmar
