We investigated Oracle on the HP3000 over a year ago and found that the
3000 was not a good platform for the Oracle financials. While the people

at HP are working very hard to help Oracle bring out the MPE version, it
is
still limited compared to its Unix siblings. Our major problem was the
lack of the Oracle Alert feature, which is necessary if you would like to

have the Financials enforce your business rules (ie. Purchase Orders
must be signed by the requester's manager before being submitted to
Purchasing). We also found the salespeople to be completely lacking in
knowledge concerning their MPE version of the financials; and, if not for

the HP team supporting Oracle, we would not have found out the many
deficiencies in the product which would have rendered it useless for our
business. Also, be warned, last year when we were evaluating the Oracle
financials, there were less than a dozen companies who had purchased it
for the HP3000.

Please note: this information is over a year old and I'm sure the
product
has been improved since. Of course, talking with someone who has
actually implemented Oracle on the HP3000 would give you much better
information on this subject, that is, if they can be found.
