I have been busy of late setting up our HP-UX based web server but now I have to
turn my attention back to our MPE/iX machine.

I took the information provided several weeks ago here on this list and
successfully established a resolver file in NET.SYS which does indeed lookup on
our DNS server and returns the proper address. But unless the destination
address is local to our internal net, the ARPA services on the HP-3000 fail to
connect. The problem is shown below

MPE/ix 5.0 session
:
:ftp
File Transfer Protocol [A0007000] (C) Hewlett-Packard Co. 1990
ftp> open hpux.ee.ualberta.ca
Cannot connect to host: eigen.ee.ualberta.ca (129.128.16.97) (FTPERR 9)
DESTINATION UNREACHABLE. (SOCKERR 116)
ftp>
:

So, can anyone tell me how to set up a static route or gateway to our inetnet
router? Or am I going to be told that an "optional" piece of expensive HP
software is going to be required to make this work too?

Regards,
Jim

P.S.

For any of you that are interested, our web site URL is:

http://www.harte-lyne.ca

our anonymous ftp server is:

ftp.harte-lyne.ca

I hope to have several usefull HP-3000 ix binaries here soon, including LYNX.

Regards to all.

Jim
