Thus it was written in the epistle of Mike Church,
> The cost of yearly our hp 3000's yearly hardware maintenance $##,###.
>
> The cost of yearly HP support : $##,###.
>
> My boss's face when he sees the cost in $##,###,### to replace all our

yes, well.

On a general note, and not aimed directly at Mike, I want to say (as I expect
I will again and again), that this announcement does not imply the death of MPE
nor the migration off the platform. *If* OpenMPE happens (and I remain
hopeful), MPE may well continue to be a viable option. *Even if it does not*,
there are 5 years of official life and who knows how many more of unofficial
(how many sites are still running Classics?) yet to go. Folks, many of us were
already facing the "death" of the 9x7 boxes and many had plans in place which
continued the life of those boxes long beyond when MPE could be updated on them
and when HP supported them. This is much the same.
