After getting cabling and power issues resolved, I set out to crank up
our spanking new A500-200-20. Power is applied, and ctl-B gets me to a
Guardian Processor (or something like that) and asks me to login. What
the heck, just hit return. Asks for password. Hit return again. OK,
guess that was OK.

Then after some experimentation, I tried the old RS but was met with
"CPU power is off". Hmmm... (fidgeting through manuals, appendices,
nope, nothing A500 specific even close). Scrutinize the hardware, the
power cables, the PDUs, nothing. After a couple of hours of feeling
very stupid, I finally found a little tidbit about troubleshooting the
A500 and it mentioned the power switch. Doh! Yep, it's there. For
those that haven't had one yet, I'll not let the cat out of the bag :-)

So we're on, factory pre-install looks OK, has long_name member 1 on
ldev 1, loner on ldev 2, the tape drive on ldev 7, a pseudo-streams
device on 10, console on 20. Ahh... familiar.

But now I'm, well, stuck. The disk array (2 LVD SCSI controllers, 5
drives each) show up in mapper as:

0/4 Elroy PCI Bridge
0/4/0/0 Symbios SCSI Ultra160 LVC HBA
0/4/0/0.8.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/4/0/0.9.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/4/0/0.10.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/4/0/0.11.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/4/0/0.12.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/4/0/0.15.0 HP A6491A Smuggler

0/6 Elroy PCI Bridge
0/6/2/0 Symbios SCSI Ultra160 LVC HBA
0/6/2/0.0.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/6/2/0.1.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/6/2/0.2.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/6/2/0.3.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/6/2/0.4.0 HP 36.4G MAS3367NC
0/6/2/0.15.0 HP A6491A Smuggler

Not exactly plug-and-play here. Could someone clue me in as how to
configure the base paths/IDs and the disks themselves? The internal
drives show up as ST336753LCs in mapper, while sysgen appears to just
call them LVDDISK.

If someone can point me in the right direction I think I can handle most
of it from here on.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff
