Given the prior thread on the Human Genome Project, I thought
the following may be of some (limited) interest.

Stanford University will host a free program on Saturday, January 20th:

  "We invite you to an exciting Saturday afternoon public program
   that will introduce you to the groundbreaking genetics research being
   done at Stanford and the spectrum of technologies and applications
   stemming from that research. Four visionary researchers, all
   world-renowned leaders in their field -- Richard Myers, David Botstein,
   Luca Cavalli-Sforza, and Will Talbot -- will discuss their work and
   provide us with a roadmap to the future of genetics and genetic
medicine."
