For you PC troubleshooters out there:

Carry a an old DOS bootable floppy with with an old DOS version of
ping.exe on it.

This suggestion may sound too simplistic, or maybe just labor intensive,
but here goes:

Remove "PING.EXE" from every person's hard drive.

There are some of us who need to ping an HP3000,
as well as using other such tools to troubleshoot
a network....

I'd like to know which firewall is being used here.
I can ping our 3000's running 5.0 and they do not
come crashing down.

Also - for remote users, having ping.exe on the
PC is useful for remote diagnostic purposes...
