If our experiences are any indication, you may be pleasantly surprised. When
re-negociating a support contract on behalf of a client, I pointed out to
HP that the existing additional charge for FTP and Thinlan Link should be
dropped because of the impending 5.0 bundling of these services. To my
surprise, the subsequent support contract quotation was conspicuous by the
absence of the aforementioned charges. Furthermore, this became effective
January 1, 1995 - the effective date of the new contract - which precedes
the official 5.0 release by at least one month(?).

Also, I specifically asked the question at Denver (i.e. will support costs
increase with the bundling of ARPA services ala Image/SQL) and the answer
at the time was an emphatic no.

This appears to be confirmed by the reality of at least this one event.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Regards,
