Hmmm... kewl... Not sure if this is a bug or what, but the problem (or feature) is not specific to FTP. You can test nslookup with the same ip address 15.1.1.257 and get the reply/result for 15.1.1.1 (example). It appears this problem is a bit more deeply rooted and is a probably in the MPE gethostbyip and gethostbyname calls... I did a quick check in hp-ux 11.0 and do not see this behavior (it must be a another example of the rich feature set of MPE - sorry I could not resist, it is Friday)!
