Without quoting previous reports, I'll just add mine:

* Two years ago I added 4 C302x SCSI 2Gb full-height discs.  One appeared
  to be DOA but the CE discovered one of the plugs from the backplane of
  the mini-tower cabinet to the disc was plugged in wrong (either one pin
  to one side, or upside down, I don't recall which). No problems since.

* Last year I added 3 C304x SCSI 2Gb half-height discs.  No problems.

* We have had 3 C3010 670Mb discs for 3-4 years with no problems.

* We have had 5 7937s and 1 7936 for at least 6 years. One dead power
  supply, two dead controller cards, one bad mech with data loss. We took
  them off of support in August.

* We have 8 7933s (remaining) close to 10 years old. 7 still work fine and
  have been off of support 2 years.

I felt better with 7933s than the 30xx drives. If the latter fail, you're
looking at probable data loss. Given the failure rates of newer drives as
reported here, combined with probable data loss, any other old-timers out
there might want to reconsider their perception of disc failure of any sort.
Apparently I've been lucky (knocking on wood).
