Thats a symptom of echo being off
do
set echo=on
and it will be ok.

can't remember how to fix this:
ran a blockmode screen (NMMGR) which aborted due to no FORMLIST
equation.
now my terminal (Reflection) doesn't properly handle my CR, I only see
LF, so prompts are like this:
HOBBES:
HOBBES:
HOBBES:
etc.
IIRC the fix is some escape sequence that's actually an mpe command, but
that's as far as the brain will dig today. anybody?
