Gentle Listers & assorted (sordid?) Yo-Yos,

This past weekend, I was privileged to be part of a team of four people who
managed the technical side of a new consumer computing show. This first show
was in Boston at the Bayside exposition center. We set up an Internet
pavilion with 50 PCs, an on-line pavilion with 42 PCs, a Games pavilion with
40 PCs and a Computer Learning Center with 72 PCs. The Internet Pavilion and
the On-Line pavilion PCs were all networked together along with a T-1 link to
a local POP. The Computer Learning Center or CLC, is divided in 4 areas, one
of which is the Kidsfest. This area is reserved for small children and we
set up low chairs and tables, along with children keyboards and mice. The
software on the PCs is from Disney and others. HP's CPO division has a booth
where they are showing all their neat new printers.

The vast majority of the PCs are running Windows95, especially all the
networked ones. The preparation phase of this show is where we got full
exposure to Windows95.

The next show will be in Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Centre on October
20-22.

This is a great occasion to bring the family to a show where there is
something for everyone, not just the techies. It is also a great occasion to
surf the net at T-1 speed for free, after you have paid the admission to the
show. BTW you can get discount coupons at Staples and other stores in your
area.

The name of the show is: The Home & Family Computing Supershow.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

P.S. The next planned shows are in December in Dallas, at the Dallas
Convention Center (Dec. 8-10) and San Francisco at the Moscone Center (Dec.
15-17).
