Is anyone aware of a(n) (agency|industry group|*) that is going to help control this action? I mean if everyone were to go off and then back on at the same time I would be concerned about the initial surge and later drain on the systems causing some power problems. I would rather not be without electricity and its
associated utilities (water|sewer|gas|*) in the middle of winter.

I can't see that being a problem. Turning off an appliance or computer
represents only a small potion of the electric load.

My prediction - only minor Y2K glitches, at least in the US. Caution
a little bit of preparation would be advisable, extra food on hand, a
full gas tank and a little extra cash. Then relax and watch the ball
descend.

Have a good one.
