You got it. The Subject is ignored ...

We're talking about the dreaded:
Listprocessor-Version: 6.0c -- ListProcessor by Anastasios Kotsikonas

The password is for a 'live connection' to the listserv (ILLP) ...
pulling reports is about the only reason that I could guess you'd
want it. I disabled it but you still get that lovely subscribed message
from somewheres deep in the beasty.

A pain, I quite agree, and one that I get to suffer for daily :>
I don't see a lot of flexability with this software in terms of
moderation, filtering, archiving, etc. Usually (in a package where
you can set these things) this is called External Moderation where
any subscriber can send to the list without filling up the moderators
mailbox and, yet, the junk mailers of the world are excluded (and
fill up the postmasters box instead). I'm quite sure that there
are packages that allow one to have 'also post' or 'allowed' lists
to take care of this state. The server is _quite_ picky about exact
matches and I get entertainment everytime a hostname (or sendmail)
changes ...

Therefore, I am pounding on SmartList (nee procmail) as we type and
hope to have something a good deal more civil (and configurable) to
replace listproc.
