Ordinarily I'm not as grumpy as some about spurious postings, but I am
getting increasingly irritated about people who post to multiple newsgroups
at the same time, especially given that the information tends to flow only
one way. The original poster is likely to never see your response if you post
to HP3000-L. Your response will only go back to comp.sys.hp.mpe. The original
multiple newsgroup information is lost in the translation between the
comp.sys.hp.mpe newsgroup and the HP3000-L list.

This is a portion of the newsgroup header that Terry Shannon created:

From: "Terry C. Shannon" <A HREF="mailto:[log in to unmask]">
[log in to unmask]</A>
Newsgroups: <A HREF="news:comp.org.decus">comp.org.decus</A>, <A
HREF="news:comp.os.vms">comp.os.vms</A>, <A HREF="news:comp.sys.dec">
comp.sys.dec</A>, <A HREF="news:comp.sys.hp.mpe">comp.sys.hp.mpe</A>

If there were any way to filter out newsgroup postings that are being
forwarded from comp.sys.hp.mpe that are simultaneously being posted to
multiple newsgroups, I'd certainly vote for that filter being set. Otherwise,
I consider this kind of thing pure spam. I have never seen these kinds of
multiple-newsgroup postings be in the interest of the occupants of the
various newsgroups.
