That's probably sendmail trying to determine your local hostname at startup
time.

You should be concerned; you do not want to see any errors like this at
sendmail startup.

What happens if log on as the sendmail job's user.account and you go into the
shell and do:

        /BIND/PUB/bin/nslookup 172.23.10.11

Check to make sure that /SYS/NET/RESLVCNF and /etc/resolv.conf are set up
correctly and have the proper world-readable permissions.
