My company has gotten quite a few requests over the last few years to do
things like: "... read some HP-3000 backup tapes and copy the files to a
PC...." - I keep telling them what it takes to do all this AND produce a
meaningful result. Amazingly enough once they understand the issues and
inherent time and costs.... not one of these potential clients has turned
into a paying customer.

What Denys wrote about is well worth thinking about BEFORE migrating away
from the HP-3000 platform.
