When Dave (and Mike Gueterman) left Ohio, it was in the middle 1980s when
heavy industry (and manufacturing in general) here in the Midwest was going
through another round of down-sizing. This had been going on almost
continually since the late 70s and "things" were bad here.... real bad.
Many people left the region and found work in other parts of the country, a
lot went to the west coast. This was kind of like the 'dust-bowl' years (in
our case it was the 'rust-bowl') when many farmers left Kansas and Oklahoma
in the 30s and moved to California.
Anyway, we've got clients all over the country and it amazes me how many of
the west coast system managers are originally from the 'rust-belt'.
Now, based on the number of calls we get from head-hunters looking for
programmers & such, 'things' are booming again here in the mid-west.
So I guess the message is: OK ladies and gentlemen.... it's safe to come
back now.
Just close your eyes, click your heels together three times and say
"there's no place like home... there's no place like home.... ;-)

PS. Hey Glenn, Let me know if any programmers "suddenly" appear.
