Lisa,

We had a similar problem when we moved our Amisys Application to a brand new
machine.  We had an escalation with HP on this one but it was the boys from
Beechglen Development that found the problem.  It turned out that we had a
printer on the same bus as the network interface that was reporting so many
errors that it hung the network.  Probably a long shot but you might want to
take a look at it.
