I just went to the ITRC to update my patch digest subscriptions and
discovered they don't offer a weekly 6.5 patch digest -- although I can
apparently still subscribe to the *5.0* digest!
<rant>
Does this make sense? 6.5 has been out for nearly a year, and I can't get a
6.5 patch digest, but 5.0 has been unsupported since *before* Y2K, and I can
still get a patch digest for it? (I know it's not actively updated --
probably. ;-)
I can only conclude there must still be so many patches coming out for 6.5
that a weekly digest would be too big. Maybe it should be a daily digest in
that case? Or how about splitting it into two weekly digests, one for GR
patches and one for bad/superceded patches?
</rant>
BTW, the 6.0 digest, as far as I can tell, doesn't include patches for 6.5
except those that were developed for 6.0 and 6.5 concurrently.
Can anyone on the list who works for HP put the bug in someone's ear to fix
this? I'm afraid if I put in the request through the response center it'll
get misconstrued as some kind of "enhancement" request. ("Dunno, Carl, looks
like a request for a patch for somethin' his system digests every week. It's
a six-five request, he must want an enhancement in one o' them new
features.") (Okay, that was a mini-rant.)
Thanks,
Patrick (wondering why I don't get asked to take the ITRC customer survey
when I actually have something to say!)
