Er Jim, remember that for TCP/IP address 010.xxx.xxx.xxx is NOT the same as 10.xxx.xxx.xxx. 010 is interpreted as an octal address, in this case a decimal value of 8. I doubt this is your problem, but be aware.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

Actually, I've tried to hire contractors to do this stuff and can't find
anyone in the NE Ohio area interested in doing it (have checked with both
the HP office in Cleveland, and our HP Channel Partner). So, I guess I'm
stuck being the resident (non-)expert. :-)

Oops! No routers between the two machines in Ohio! Although there are
routers for the frame relay connection, I'm just trying to get the NetBase
thing working here in Ohio as a test environment before I go to Texas and
do the real thing. The network in Ohio is:

918 to 8-port hub using 10Base2
8-port hub to 8-port hub using 10BaseT (cascaded)
8-port hub to 948 using 10Base2

This works 'cause from my desktop I can connect to either the 918 or 948
as long as my IP address is in the correct range for which ever machine
I want to connect to.

I've tried setting up a gateway from the 948 to the 918, but NMMGR doesn't
like to IP addresses (192.x.x.x to 010.x.x.x). I could change the IP
address of the 948 to be in the range of addresses available to the 918
(010.x.x.x). Would this help?

>Hope this helps

It's as clear as mud! :-)
